Over 400 films from more than 40 countries were presented for the 2017 BCN Sports Film Festival (BSFF). Of these, some 20 will compete in the Official Section of this 8th Annual Festival from 8th to 12th May.
This year, the most important sports film festival in the world will include films like: Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans which was screened at the 2016 Cannes Classics at the festival of the same name; El Caso Fischer which premiered at the 2014 TIFF in Toronto; Hopptornet from the Official Section of the 66th Annual Berlinale Shorts Competition and last, but not least, Let’s Be Frank which was shown at the 65th Annual San Sebastian Festival.
There will be 24 themed sessions which will cover from the most popular sports to the weird and wonderful. We will not be forgetting the sportsmen and women themselves. All will star in the 2017 BSFF: from the anonymous to the elite, such as Carlos Súarez who stars in Morir por la Cima or Nadia Comaneci.
This edition of the Festival is spreading its wings and will be present in more venues than ever. To the well-established Joan-Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum and the Corte Inglés’ Sala Àmbit Cultural in Portal de l’Àngel we have added the Can Castellet Cinemas in Sant Boi de Llobregat, the Sant Martí Auditorium, the Fort Pienc Civic Centre, the Casa Eizalde Cultural Centre, the Girona Cinemas, the Ponent Library in Sabadell and the 5th District Library in Terrassa. Meanwhile, and as is now traditional, a selection of films will be shown at several penal institutions around Catalonia.
Most sessions are aimed at the general public and all are free of charge.
